Have a carpet made to measure
The start
Material
You should not use other materials, such as newspaper, baking paper or tissue paper, as there is a high risk of the stencil breaking.
Labelling
It is also particularly important that you label your template. Label the top side clearly with "Top" and repeat the same for the underside ("Bottom"). In this way, we can rule out the possibility of making your carpet the wrong way round. If you would like to order more than one piece of carpet, you should also make sure that you mark the direction in which your pieces are to be laid. Otherwise, the shading of the individual pieces will vary depending on the type of carpet (particularly in the case of velour carpets). So that we can take this into account during production, please mark all the individual parts of your template with an arrow pointing in the same direction. In the case of vehicles, for example, the easiest way to do this is to mark all parts with an arrow pointing in the direction of travel.
Dimensions of your template
Please note, also when looking at the choice of material, that your template must not be larger than the material you choose later. For example, if you choose a material that we only offer in 2 metre roll widths, we will not be able to produce a carpet measuring 3x4 metres. With such a template, you would have to choose a material with a roll width of at least 3 metres.
As your carpet will later be edged all the way round (colour edging), you should leave approx. 4 mm space around the edge of your template. This will prevent the carpet from bulging later, as carpet can expand slightly with significant temperature fluctuations.
In the case of very large templates, we may have to divide them into two parts. This can otherwise lead to handling problems during production, especially with very heavy, thick materials. However, we would always discuss this with you before production.
Corners and bottlenecks
You need to be particularly careful with corners and narrow areas. Due to the nature of the machine, it is not possible to chain 90 degree corners, i.e. all corners must have a rounded shape, as you can see in the example image.
The same applies to sharp corners or "notches" as shown in the red circle in the picture. The carpet must be guided around this notch in a rounded shape so that it is possible to machine this area later.
Inside cut-outs
Internal cut-outs are possible, but they cannot be textile-linked. This means that, depending on the material selected, there is a possibility that the carpet will fray slightly at this point later on.
An alternative that works in terms of production technology is the so-called "tree cut". Here, we cut from the outside through the template to the desired inside cut-out, which can then also be linked later. You can see an example of this in the picture. However, the inner cut-out must not be too small, but must have a diameter of at least 16 cm so that it can be machine-linked.
Completion
At the end, you should definitely place your template once again in the area to be lined. Make sure that your template lies flat and does not make any waves. This will prevent any deviations later on. Check again that the labelling is correct and that your template has the shape you want as precisely as possible.
Once you are happy with the result, fold the template carefully. Now all you have to do is send it to us and let us know which material you would like to choose.
What it costs - this is how the price is made up
As each template is individual and different, we are unfortunately unable to give you an exact price in advance. However, we are happy to explain to you here how the price is made up. This allows you to estimate the approximate amount you can expect to pay before the template is created. We can then tell you the final price as soon as we have checked your template and know which material you would like to use.Example 1 (1 individual part, material 12€/m², material width 4 metres)
Example 2 (3 individual parts, material 12€/m², material width 2 metres)
Example 3 (3 individual parts, material 12€/m², material width 4 metres)
Choosing the right material
In addition to a good template, the choice of material is one of the most important points; after all, the carpet is the central element that catches the eye later on. However, pay attention to the available material widths, especially if you have a large template, e.g. we cannot cut a 3x4 metre template from a 2 metre wide carpet. You are also welcome to order A4 samples of the materials you are interested in in advance to get a vivid impression.Whether for lining motorhomes and caravans, the boot or other vehicles such as lorries, tractors or boats. We can create customised carpets for any purpose. However, classic applications can be found in the following areas:
